So I'm 22 and he is 36, can it work?

I'm leery of this situation. He has been very vocal about how he feels about me and I am still extremely overwhelmed by it. Mostly cause I had no idea that he felt this strongly about me, I thought he just had a crush, but he has explained that what he feels for me goes much deeper than that. I'm used to older guy's wanting me just for sex and nothing more, but I think that he wants more.

I was previously involved with a man that was 39 years old and it ended badly. I'm still in college and not ready to settle down and he was ready to start a family with me. He was "in love" by the 2 month we were together and he is still hung up on me and we broke up in the summer. 

Now as far as the 36 year old, we attend the same college, he was in the military and came back to college last year.We had just in the past few months have become friends of sorts and began to hang out.

Now he wants to date, actually he said that he wants to sweep me off my feet and win me over.

Should I give him a chance, even though at this point I'm not attracted to him in the least?

Or should I just let him down now and same us both some troubles and keep the friendship?

So "Books" is still being an ultra douche to me and I don't deserve it at all. I am slowly starting to see my life without him in it, as hard as that is for me to imagine. I don't want to write him off completely, but at this point it would be impossible to still be friends.

I still compare every guy to him, I still see him as an option, but our time has come and gone.

When will he finally be out of my heart?
